76th Annual August 8 – 13, 2011 World’s oldest and largest Old Fiddlers’ Convention.

It’s that time of year again when the sweet sound of music resonates throughout the hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Galax, VA.  The 76th Annual week long performances and competition starts today at Felts Park.  After a fun day in the park we, suggest a short stay at the  Blue Ridge Manor Bed and Break j  We even direct you to the shortcuts to avoid travel.   Just ask!

  • Thursday, July 15, 2011 – Registration Deadline – All registration forms must be postmarked by this date.

  • Sunday, August 7, 2011, 7:00 AM – Felts Park Campground Opens.  (No walk in campers until 4:00 PM).

  • Monday, August 8, 2011, 2:30 – 4:30 PM – Registration for Fiddlers’ Youth Competition

  • Monday, August 8, 2011, 5:30 PM – Fiddlers’ Youth Competition

  • Tuesday, August 9, 2011, 6:00 PM – Old Time Fiddle, Dobro, and Mandolin Competitions

FloydFest, long known as a family-friendly four days, has a toddlers’ playground, art workshops, a Taekwondo clinic, a drumming workshop and talented young performers in its “children’s universe.”

The festival features a “Teen Scene Lounge” for older kids, including meditation, African drumming, an open mic creativity showcase and talking sessions. The “Healing Arts Village” includes yoga, massage and hammocks.

Saturday, July 14 – Black Dog Wine & Music Festival

The Black Dog Wine & Music Festivals gathers  folks from near and far. The field becomes a big party of music lovers, sun chairs, barefoot dancing and frivolity. Why not join Chateau Morrisette on Saturday, July 14, 2012 for amazing new bands, a variety of vendors for shopping, fun foods, lots of vino and sassy sangria! Admission includes music, winery tour, tastings and souvenir wine glass. 4th of July Parade

 

Full week of activities planned around July 4th Holiday in Downtown Mount Airy.

July 4th is quickly approaching and a full schedule of events are being planned for Downtown Mt Airy to commemorate Independence Day! There will be family friendly events all day Downtown including pony rides, petting zoo, bounce house, slide, and face painting. Balloons will be provided by Mr Poketto the clown.
