Meadows of Dan VA
Meadows of Dan is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 178, just at the intersection of Business Route 58 with the Parkway.
“The mountain” as Meadows of Dan is locally known, has been settled for generations, since the 1820s and 1830s. One of the most photographed spots in America is Mabry’s Mill, just up the Parkway at Milepost 179. Walking the mountain arts trails at the mill is like walking back through time to the way things used to be on the mountain. Further up the Parkway are many hiking trails for long, vigorous hikes or just for walks in the peaceful mountains. Fishing, hunting, camping, or just driving around delighting in the beauty of the mountains can all be enjoyed in the hills around Meadows of Dan.
Meadows of Dan is located on the Crooked Road. The Crooked Road is a music trail through Southwest Virginia that highlights the tradition of old-time and bluegrass music in the mountains of Appalachia and the Blue Ridge.
Country stores, antique shops, a knife shop, a fudge factory, a farm and craft market, ice cream parlor, wineries and more all create a special shopping experience in an area surrounded by beauty where visitors become friends and come back over and over again to shop, sit on porches, and just relax in a special place.
