Local Holiday Happenings

Free Holiday Tour

Gertrude Smith House

Fragrant evergreens, holiday spices and beautifully decorated trees fill the rooms of the Victorian style Gertrude Smith House in Mount Airy, North Carolina.  The house will be open for the Christmas season on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  During that time, visitors are able to take a guided tour through the house built in 1903 which displays the original furniture of the Smith family.  The trees are decorated as they would have been during the early 1900s.  Tours are free to the public.

The Mount Airy Museum of Regional History has planned to incorporate holiday themes into some of its scheduled events.  On Sunday, December 12, the museum will be open to the public for its annual open house.  The free event provides an opportunity to visit the museum to view the exhibits and see new displays.
